A brief bio of Veggie Brothers


Who Are Veggie Brothers?
We are two men who are brothers in spirit with the desire to provide the world with the best vegan food that we can muster. We are a small company with big ideas and lofty goals. Our mission is to provide you with the finest possible vegan food possible using the best and freshest natural and organic ingredients available. Our high protein meat alternatives are 100% vegan. Some of them are 100% organic, and we use no ingredients that have been geneticaly modified. We have recipes that span the globe with flavors you will develop cravings for.


Chef Mark Rasmussen is an internationally recognized vegan chef whose legendary shore town vegetarian restaurant "Veggie Works" was highly acclaimed for its unique and delicious cuisine. Known for his recipes based on wheat and soy protein derivatives, fans from all over America asked Mark to open a restaurant in their towns. Wanting to share his secrets with the world, Mark authored the "Veggie Works Vegan Cookbook", (pub.2001),  considered as being one of the most comprehensive books ever written on vegan food preparation. This wasn't enough for Mark, though, he wanted to get his food out to everyone.  It was clear that a natural progression of events would lead Mark to want to manufacture some of his most popular recipes, so the whole world could try them! Incidently, Mark became vegetarian in 1974 and has been enjoying perfect health ever since.


Michael Balducci had been a customer of Veggie Works Vegetarian Restaurant since he first discovered it for himself in 2002. Michael became a regular customer even though his home was located nearly 40 miles away. He came to eat whenever he could and even had his wedding reception held there. He was proud of the fact that he knew of a vegetarian restaurant where he could take all of his omnivorous family and friends for lunch or dinner, with everyone leaving very satisfied, mentally and physically energized, and clearing up any misconceptions they may have had about vegetarian food.


Michael's spiritual convictions to being a vegetarian and to living a life of health and nutrition led him to attend the Gary Null Anti-Aging and Detoxification Program in New York City, where after a year, not only did he become superbly more healthy, but was honored with the privilege of conducting future classes for the next year and a half, while Gary Null was not in town (2000-2001). Michael's holistic education was furthered by attending the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City, where he recieved Board Certification as a Holistic Health Counselor. Like many of American vegetarians, his new eating habits were contrary to those of his friends and family. Michael liked the idea that he could convince anyone with one trip to Veggie Works that this cuisine was definitely not rabbit food.

Being a successful businessman he recognized the power of this singular food that was made at this little restaurant, not to mention that it was always so mobbed you needed reservations to get in. When Michael saw his Italian family enjoy the Meatballs in Marinara Sauce and other dishes at his wedding, yet could not believe that these meatballs were meat free, Michael wanted to find a way to help share these healthy dishes that tasted so good with the rest of the world. 

When you have a substitute cuisine that is far healthier than what you are currently eating, but tastes virtually identical to what you currently eating and someone else is making it for you, then  you have the paradox of changing your diet without changing your diet. With Veggie Brothers Vegan Cuisine for the Mainstream all you have to do is heat up the food! No cookbooks, no stocking of the pantry or shopping for fresh ingredients, we put it all together for you. You, too can take back your health and live a long and active life free of animal products and all of the chronic diseases they cause - without giving up flavor or satisfaction. For Veggie Brothers,  this cuisine is a wonderful way to reconnect with some of Americas favorite traditional comfort foods, with family and friends and fond memories of great food.

So that is how it began, Mark and Michael started Veggie Brothers to further those plans. After a year of research and development, Veggie Brothers has launched the first vegan restaurant online to the world. Now anyone, anywhere, anytime can place an order from our online buffet!
